The word “minister” means “one who serves”. A banner ministry serves and thanks God for all good things. Without God, there would be no colors, fabric, or textures, and none of the joy created by reflecting His glory through banners. We use and display banners for a number of reasons:
- Seasonal/celebration decorations
- Worship service enhancement
- Processionals
- Presentation of church mission statements
- Worship focal points
- Altar/pulpit adornments
In celebration of our 100th anniversary in 2007 several special celebration banners were designed and displayed in the sanctuary throughout much of that year. The banners included the summation of our mission statement (Keeping Faith, Reaching Out, and Welcoming All) and our tie to the United Church of Christ. One banner was used in a town parade that year.
Our baptismal banner was designed in celebration of Holy Baptism and is displayed behind the baptismal font whenever there is a baptism.
A number of banners are displayed seasonally, in celebration, and as pulpit adornments. These include:
- Our bright red Pentecost banner with a descending Dove and flames
- Our Communion Banners, Pulpit Scarf, and Bookmark displayed monthly for communion. Banners are displayed in both the sanctuary and the narthex.
- Fall banners and Thanksgiving banners
- Advent & Christmas Banners
- Lenten Banners and Easter Banners
- Welcome Banners and Scripture Banners
As banners are displayed throughout the year they will be posted to this portion of the website.
