May 2025 Wrap-Up!

May was an exciting and dynamic month for the RCC full of positive actions with our neighbors to improve lives as best we can with what God has given us! If you weren’t able to join in all the activity, check out the run-down below!

Second Annual Tea Luncheon

On Sunday, May 18th, we hosted our Second Annual Tea Luncheon in support of the Center for Hope & Safety, an organization dedicated to providing lodging and crucial resources to those affected by domestic abuse.

Our guests graciously donated useful supplies for entry to the well-attended luncheon. We plan to continue our support for the Center not only with future annual events, but also consistent donations through the year.

Rutherford Memorial Day Parade

Memorial Day 2025

The Rutherford Memorial Day Parade took place on Sunday, May 25th, and the RCC was happy to be a small part of the holiday observation. The parade made its way up Union Ave to Town Hall on Park Ave where the memorial ceremony for those lost in the military took place.

Earlier, at the RCC Memorial Day Sunday, we acknowledged the military service of  longtime member William Galloway who passed last year. William Decatur Galloway. Jr. served in the U.S. Army from 1946 to 1948 as a private in the 761 st Tank Battalion, also known as the Black Panthers, which consisted of African American soldiers who were not allowed to serve in the same unit as white troops.

Indivisible Rutherford

Indivisible Rutherford held its first meeting at the RCC late in May in an effort to organize neighbors concerned with the socially destructive actions of the current presidential administration.

The Indivisible Project is a grassroots effort to resist the ongoing attacks on civil rights around the US. We are more than proud and eager to support this initiative!

American Cancer Society's Relay For Life

The American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life took place on Saturday, May 31st at the Felician University Wellness Center. Joining Relay teams from both Rutherford and Clifton, our RCC group walked to raise money for cancer treatment, research, and patient support.

We also walked in honor of RCC members who have survived cancer, are battling cancer currently, and have sadly lost their lives to the disease.
