On June 7th, Rutherford, New Jersey held its fourth annual Pridefest in beautiful Lincoln Park. Despite the rainy weather, hundreds of locals and visitors stopped in to celebrate LGBTQ pride and diversity. The fest began with the ceremonial raising of the pride flag alongside address from the Rutherford Pride Alliance and other prominent local figures. After the ceremony, the day proceeded with amazing performances, games, vendors and food trucks! 

The RCC participated once again in the festival with our very own booth! Not only did we have our usual swag (brand-new tote bags, rainbow bracelets, magnets and pens), we also offered our very first photo booth! Anyone who stopped by the booth had the chance to take a picture with one of our vibrant signs featuring progressive slogans that address crucial issues of our time. The booth was an absolute hit, seeing dozens and dozens of people expressing their desire for a better future with our signs!

Overall, this year’s Pridefest was a joyful expression of the vibrant life that comes with open-hearted acceptance of others. Dedication to love and tolerance is more important than ever in this political climate full of ignorance and hate. We absolutely cannot wait until next year’s fest!
