An Important Update from Haiti Hope House

Greetings Friends,

At the beginning of the 15th year of Haiti Hope House’s mission of Hope through Education in Mizak, Haiti, as usual, I want to keep you informed and take the opportunity to thank you for your financial and spiritual support.

As expected, the 2025-2026 school year began as scheduled on October 1st. I had been very busy working with the Liaison, brother Isidor, to ensure a smooth opening for all the HHH kids. He has begun the tedious work of visiting each school to confirm that all the children registered are in fact in the corresponding school. Sometimes changes take place between registration and actual school opening. A parent, for example, may have decided to send his/her child to a different school, and failed to notify us. Once attendance is confirmed, then brother Isidor is authorized to pay the tuition for each child for the full school year, a situation which is best for everyone: the school, the parent, and HHH. I ask you to pray for the safety of our Liaison.

At the completion of this work, he will schedule a meeting with all the parents at the HHH Learning Center to ensure that they understand the criteria set by HHH for participation in the program, and the role that that they must play in order to ensure the academic success of their children. Culturally in Haiti, often, food is cooked on fire of wood, with the pot resting on three rocks. If any of the rocks is missing, the pot will fall. Similarly, HHH paying the kid’s tuition is one of the rocks. The school instructing the kid is the second rock. The parents, providing the emotional support to the kid, the pot on the fire, is the third rock. The Liaison’s job is to keep in touch with the schools to make sure that the kid is performing, and if not, why?  He is also to keep in touch with the parents to ensure that they are doing their part, and if there is any reason why they are not. At that meeting, each parent will be given a small monetary assistance to help with the possible purchase of school supplies.

This year we have 100 children, 73 returning, and 27 newcomers. Continuing the trend of recent years, there are 62 girls, and 38 boys ranging from 5 to 16 years old, in first grade to nineth grade. A total of 12 schools is participating in the Education Program with 3 being the least number of attending HHH students, and 19 being the largest number. Since we began, in September 2010, we have helped about 400 children to go to school.
This year we have nine 9th graders who are leaving the program. As we have been doing for the past few years, we also will have a small farewell event for them, including a small monetary gift to each student.

So, the 15th year is on the way, and we pray for God’s blessings upon Haiti, upon the children, and upon Haiti Hope House.

Once again, I thank all of you for supporting this very important mission of giving hope to the children of Mizak for a better future through education in the name of Jesus.

I wish to remind the sponsors from whom I have not heard yet. Please let me know if you no longer wish to sponsor the child/children you sponsored last year. If it is only an oversight, you can still send your donation through the usual means including Zelle using the email address haitihopehousegiving@gmail.com

Blessings
